The Affton School District seeks a visionary leader with a systems perspective to serve as their next high school principal. The high school principal will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with staff, students, and parents. The high school principal will be charged with continuously improving innovative teaching and learning with a focus on academic excellence, creative problem solving, and social emotional learning. Qualified applicants should possess a vision for personalized learning and be able to articulate strategies they intend to utilize to build consensus around new ideas and practices.

 

 

DETAILS:

 

  • 12-month position with district-recognized holidays, Winter and Spring breaks, and 20 vacation days
  • Minimum starting salary is $125,000/year, placement is commensurate with experience and degree
  • District provided benefits package that includes employee health, dental, life and vision insurance
  • Administrator contract begins 07/01/2019

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Requires a master’s degree in Education Administration; advanced work beyond master’s is preferred
  • Requires Missouri secondary principal certification
  • Requires Missouri teaching certification, secondary preferred
  • Requires a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level
  • Prefers secondary administrative work or internship experience
  • Requires strong organizational skills and instructional leadership skills
  • Requires skills as a connected/digital leader
  • Requires experience in supporting and facilitating professional development for staff focusing on technology integration in the instructional process
  • Requires evidence of a strong professional learning network that supports innovative practices
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills and positive interaction with students, staff & the community, courteous & professional demeanor & appearance at all times
  • Requires evidence of ability to implement and sustain programs focused on improving student achievement within a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural school setting with energy and enthusiasm
  • Requires extensive listening skills and initiative to solve problems
  • Requires demonstrated leadership in promoting success of all students in the areas of:

     

                Shared leadership

                Instructional excellence

                Continuous school improvement

                School management skills

                Progress monitoring

                Knowledge or experience in alternative/customized educational opportunities for students

                Online coursework

                Data analysis and data-driven decision-making

                High quality professional development for teaching staff

                Parental and community involvement

                Understanding and implementing Missouri curricular standards and assessments at the school
